Alan Grills grew up in Kilkeel, County Down, Northern Ireland. As a result of several mentors (coaches) in Alan's life, he left a business career in the manufacturing sector, and entered college in Ireland to pursue his interest in psychology.
Alan received an Honours Degree in Psychology from York University, and a Master's Degree in Applied Psychology from the University of Toronto. He is a graduate of Tyndale Seminary, and received his CEC certification in Executive Coaching from Royal Roads University, Graduate School of Business.
Early in his psychology career, Alan worked for the Ontario Government to develop the first Infant and Early Childhood Development home-based programs for developmentally handicapped infants, children, and young adults. He has held leadership roles as the Director of Fair Haven's Ministries, a Vice President at OBC/OTS (now Tyndale University and Seminary), and a Seminary Professor at Tyndale University and Seminary.
Alan's wife, Janet, is a Registered Nurse with specialized training in the mental health sector. Alan enjoys playing golf and keeping fit at the gym with his son, Jason, and he enjoys spending time with Janet on nature walks, healthy cooking, hosting friends, serving in their church (Salvation Army), overseas cruises, and cottage moments in Muskoka.
